This magnet was one of three different styles that I had purchased of similar size, but the same style. The other two were of a cheaper variety, they were not plastic clad and smashed themselves to pieces before long.
From those false starts was where I got the idea to opt for a plastic coated one, it made so much sense. Indeed, now in my possession, it is far more robust, performing as imagined and I am happy with it.
However, I cannot ignore the fact that the plastic used, although also available in black, is white and that it for a reason. The issue I have is that the top face of the magnet (with the widest surface area) allows the dark internal magnet to show through, is semi-transparent in appearance and not opaque, as in the imagery provided here on the website. I think Neodymium magnets would be strong enough to perform with a few more microns thicker plastic case to suitably disguise its internal magnet so it were to appear all white, this after all is a key feature of the product - its colour.
Following on from this I would also recommend that a white coloured screw be included with this magnet as it's likely to be used as a display piece. Failing that, if costs are too high, then a fitted matching white plastic cap for a philips screw included, giving a more seamless finish.
The added cost of these improvements would be minimal and save the customer a lot of time themselves. After all, the packing issued in order to ensure safe delivery was par-excellence, so why not go the extra mile with the final product as well?
