Samarium cobalt is a type of rare-earth magnet that has the ability to withstand and operate in high temperatures. This particular magnet is the strongest samarium cobalt magnet in our range, however they are not as powerful as super-strong Neodymium magnets. Because of their high maximum operating temperature they are commonly used in applications such as motors and electric motors, turbo machinery and sensors. Counter-bored magnets with opposite poles on the counter-bored face can be used to attract two surfaces or two opposing counter-bored magnets with the same pole on the counter-bored face can be used to create a damping, shock absorbing or repelling effect. These magnets come with a safe-handling warning; because they are so powerful they can be dangerous if not handled carefully. Also available with the south pole on the countersunk face.
