Step 3 - Direction Of Magnetism*

The magnet is to be magnetized through its Length (an oblong with poles at the ends).

The magnet is to be magnetized through its Thickness (a thin rectangular magnet).

The magnet is to be magnetized through its diameter (the poles are on the curved sides).

The magnet is to be magnetized through its thickness (the poles are on the circular faces).

Step 4 - Pull (KG)

Vertical Pull (kg): This is the weight the magnet can support vertically from the point of contact between the magnetic face and the attracted surface (for instance a magnet stuck to the ceiling).

Slide Resistance (kg): This is the weight the magnet can support horizontally from the point of contact between the magnetic face and the attracted surface before sliding from its position (for instance a magnet stuck against a wall).

Step 5 - Magnetic Material*

Neodymium is the strongest magnet material commercially available worldwide. For applications that require high performance for limited sizes, Neodymium is the perfect magnet material.

Ferrite is a cheaper magnet material which has a better resistance to higher temperatures and corrosion than Neodymium. For applications that do not have size limitations, Ferrite is an ideal magnet material.

Samarium Cobalt is a great magnet material for resisting both corrosion and high temperatures. It is a higher performance material than both Ferrite and Alnico. Samarium Cobalt can withstand higher temperatures than both Neodymium and Ferrite making it perfect for high temperature applications.

Alnico is an older more traditional magnet material. It has the best resistance to both corrosion and high temperatures. Although the material is significantly weaker than Neodymium and Samarium Cobalt, it is ideal for high temperature and subsea applications.

Step 6 - Operating Temperature*

Specify Maximum operating environment temperature in Degrees Celsius. Each magnet material has a different resistance to high temperatures. It is important for us to know any higher temperature requirements before we advise which is the most suitable magnet material.

Step 7 - Magnet Coating*

Select the coating to be applied to the magnet. If you have a preferred magnet coating, please specify from the dropdown list.
