    • Martensitic Stainless Steel including grades\n410, 420, 440.<\/li>
    • Ferritic Stainless Steels including grades 409,\n430 and 439<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n

      Duplex stainless steels will typically be magnetic because\nthey contain a mixture of both austenite and ferrite. The amount of ferrite is\nwhat contributes to duplex steels being magnets, however, as duplex stainless\nsteels contain more austenite than ferrite steels, they may be less magnetic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

      Martensitic Stainless Steel<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

      The unique crystal structure of martensitic steels can be\nferromagnetic when iron is present. Since stainless steel is a type of steel,\nthere is an abundant amount of iron in its make-up.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
