Thinner materials are less absorbent of magnetic flux.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The flux path within a workpiece is a semi-circle from the\ncentre of a chuck pole to the centre of the next, if the workpiece is thinner\nthan the radius it will not be able to absorb the entirety of the flux and some\nwill pass through.&nbsp; <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The pull is lower than that of a ticker workpiece in which\nall the flux has been absorbed, meaning the hold is greater.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">To create a secure hold on a thin workpiece the radius of\nthe magnetic flux and pole pitch must be reduced, there are two traditional\nmethods used to achieve this.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fine Pole Chucks or Induced pole Chucks.
